How to Monitor your Child's Activity on Roblox on iPhone or iPad
Parents can consider several effective strategies to monitor content on Roblox if their child is using an iPhone or an iPad.
Roblox is one of the most popular games in the world and is most commonly played by kids on an iPhone or iPad. If you want to ensure your child is engaging in safe behavior on Roblox for iOS, you might find that Roblox's built-in parental controls don't provide the supervision you'd hope for. Fortunately, there are more effective ways to monitor Roblox on iPhones and iPads that can capture all activity so that you know exactly what your child is doing when playing the game.
Why It's Important to Monitor Your Child's Activity on Roblox
Roblox is a game that appeals to every age demographic out there, but is particularly popular with younger children. The platform has been criticized heavily by experts for failing to provide proper safeguards for children, so much so that there are many pending lawsuits against Roblox by parents.
This is, unfortunately, not a one-off problem. Even just doing some basic research, I was able to find several news stories about lawsuits that took place all over the country:
- The Tennessee Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Roblox for "deceptive and unfair business practices" that allegedly put kids at risk.
- A Chicago-area father is suing Roblox for allegedly providing an unsafe environment for kids.
- About 80 families are involved in a class-action lawsuit against Roblox , claiming that the platform did not have proper safeguards against exploitation.
Sketchy "mini-games", interactive chat features, vulgar "dances" or "emotes", and inappropriate skins make Roblox a complex game for parents to supervise.
What Parents Can do to Monitor their Child's Activity on Roblox
Here is a quick summary of some Roblox monitoring techniques:
- Consider using Screenshot-based Monitoring on your child's iPhone or iPad. Some apps, like the LivingRoom for Families app, record the screen as your child uses the device and capture screenshots of all activity periodically. This means you can see snapshots of what your child is doing within the Roblox game, including who they are chatting with and what mini-games they are playing. This is the most effective approach that works for any app, including Roblox.
- Set up iPhone's parental controls (aka, Screen Time with Apple Family) to set a Downtime for all kinds of apps, including Roblox, to limit their use to a time of day where you are around to supervise.
- Work with your child to set up parental controls on Roblox. We have a parent's guide for Roblox available if you need somewhere to start.
